0301 Does Orexin Influence Sleep Fragmented Brain Inflammation? A Pilot Study

چکیده

Abstract Introduction Fragmented sleep occurs when there are repetitive, short interruptions of sleep, resulting in less than six hours per day. Overall, however, the United States, fragmentation is reported by 30% employed adults. Sleep may be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, and orexin reduction appears effective reducing amyloid plaque formation mice with transgenic disease. Orexin neuropeptide that regulates arousal, wakefulness, appetite. Thus we hypothesized loss might also protective against disruption injury non-Alzheimer's mice. This study aims to combine see if brain health severely reduced. Methods The 24 this were split into four groups: B6 rested, fragmented, knockout fragmented. fragmented placed on shaker table 10½ weeks initiate chronic loss. all perfused within five eight months birth, then brains cryopreserved sliced. These sections immunolabeled different protein antibodies using immunohistochemistry techniques. stained either analyzed through microscope stereology counts or computer image analysis. Results Two-way ANOVA analysis tyrosine hydroxylase, ionized calcium binding adaptor, vesicular acetylcholine transporter had p<0.05 variable, showing differences these rested cluster differentiation 68, cofilin, postsynaptic density protein, RanBP genotype normal glial fibrillary acidic amyloid-beta both variables, levels. There was no significance synapsin. Conclusion Our results show knocking out orexinergic neurons causes hippocampal tissue damage, dampens functioning synapses, diminishes ability adapt plasticity memory. fragmentation, increases phagocytic activity, harms norepinepherine neurotransmitter pathways. When combined, cell communication worsens blood barrier loses function, resemblant neurodegenerative diseases. Support (If Any) NIH AG054104; AG064231

In health care, the white coat symbolizes professionalism, trustworthiness, and competence; it also represents power. This suggests that the wearing of a white coat could influence the decisions of potential subjects who are asked to participate in clinic-based research. Comments © The Hastings Center. Does Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy Help Multiple Sclerosis Patients? Report of a Pilot Study

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with their potential to differentiate into mesodermal and non-mesodermal lineages have several immunomodulatory characteris-tics. These properties make them promising tools in cell and gene therapy. Objective: To evaluate the potential therapeutic applications of autologous MSC in improving clinical manifestations of MS patients. Methods: Ten patients w...

Sleep in hospitalized elders: a pilot study.

Hospitalized elders frequently experience disturbed sleep related to environmental factors. To determine relationships between sleep and environmental noise and light, a descriptive exploratory study was conducted with 48 hospitalized older adults. Participants aged 70 years or older were monitored for sleep via wrist actigraphy, and noise and light levels were measured the first night of hospi...

Hypocretin/orexin, sleep and narcolepsy.

The discovery that hypocretins are involved in narcolepsy, a disorder associated with excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy and unusually rapid transitions to rapid-eye-movement sleep, opens a new field of investigation in the area of sleep control physiology. Hypocretin-1 and -2 (also called orexin-A and -B) are newly discovered neuropeptides processed from a common precursor, preprohypocret...

Does Sleep Really Influence Face Recognition Memory?

Mounting evidence implicates sleep in the consolidation of various kinds of memories. We investigated the effect of sleep on memory for face identity, a declarative form of memory that is indispensable for nearly all social interaction. In the acquisition phase, observers viewed faces that they were required to remember over a variable retention period (0-36 hours). In the test phase, observers...
